Flowerpots are the main planting devices for flower cultivation, and there are many types. The nature of the pot material and the size of the pot have a great influence on the growth of the flower. Therefore, it is very important to choose a pot reasonably. The ideal flower pot should have the following characteristics: light weight, easy to carry; durable, not easy to break; color, style, thickness, size can meet the needs of flower growth and viewing, and there must be a variety of specifications and models; low price and so on. Flower pots currently used can be divided into the following types according to the different materials:

(1) Plain burning pot: also known as tile pot, made of clay, there are two types: red pot and gray pot. Generally potted pots are most suitable. Tile pots are not only cheap and practical, but because there are many fine pores on the wall of the pot, the permeability and water permeability are very good, which is good for the decomposition of fertilizer in the pot soil, and the respiration and growth of the root system. The disadvantages are rough texture, monotonous color, inconvenient handling, and easy to break. Plain roasting pots are usually round with different sizes and specifications. Generally, the most commonly used pots have a diameter about the same as the pot height. Depending on the type of cultivation, the optimal depth is different. For example, the bulbs for flower bulbs and azaleas are shallow, the peony, rose, and clivia pots are deeper. The shallow pots are used for sowing and transplanting.

(2) Purple sand pot: mainly produced in Yixing, Jiangsu, with many specifications and shapes, exquisite craftsmanship, elegant color, beautiful appearance, and weak air permeability. It is also ideal for planting flowers, especially for orchid or stump bonsai. Improve its viewing effect. Due to the high price, heavy quality, and fragility, in addition to planting precious flowers or stump bonsai, purple sand pots are generally not used.

(3) Ceramic basin: The ceramic basin is fired from clay. Some surfaces are also coated with a layer of colored glaze. The diameter of the basin is 30-70 cm. It is relatively thick and has poor air permeability. Therefore, it is not suitable for planting flowers and plants, and it is generally used as a set of flower pots for halls and reception rooms, and can also be used as a bonsai pot. Porcelain pots are similar to pottery pots, with finer workmanship, higher prices, poor air permeability and poor water permeability, and are rarely used in cultivation. They are mainly used as pot pots.

(4) Plastic basin: lightweight, durable, colorful, and easy to use. But it is not air-permeable and water-proof, and it is used more in soilless cultivation. If it is used to grow flowers, the physical properties of the soil should be paid attention to to make it loose and airy to overcome the shortcomings of plastic pots. Plastic pots are most suitable for planting flowers that are more resistant to water and humidity, such as Parasol, Monstera, Calla, Guangdong Evergreen, etc. In the nursery stage, small soft plastic pots (nutrition bowls) are commonly used, which is easy to use.
